86th day August 6th Monday
I went to SM store with two Japanese. We took jeepney to go there. I had taken jeepney many times but it seemed to be first time for them to take jeepney. One of them is female and is 24 years old and the other is male and is 21 years old. We had lunch at food court and went around SM store. Both of them came to CPILS one week ago. He, 21-year-old Japanese, is going back to Japan next weekend and she, 24-year-old Japanese, is going back to Japan 3 weeks later. But the problem is she has been fed up with the life in Cebu. She does not like food, environment, cockroach and so on. She has three more weeks but she wants to make it shorter so I told her how to go back to Japan earlier. Anyway it is quite easy to shorten our stay in CPILS. All you have to do is to change your flight schedule. Of course you should talk to CPILS but it is not so important. We are here to study English not to get a diplomat.
There are not many but some of us wants to shorten our stay here. I have seen some cases. And some of them did shorten their stay here. There are a variety of reasons so I would like to describe the most common reasons to hate CPILS or Philippines.
I think the top reason to hate CPILS is the interesting creatures living in CPILS like cockroaches, lizards and flies. There are many flies flying in CPILS. You can find uncountable number of flying flies. And not only flies but also cockroaches are flying in CPILS. In Japan, cockroaches can jump from walls and fly for a short distance. But in Philippines, cockroaches can land off from the ground and fly up in the air. I do not care so much but it must be absolutely scary to encounter flying cockroaches for the people who hate cockroaches. Besides cockroaches and flies, there are many lizards walking in CPILS. You can find them near the swimming pool, in dining room or even in your room. I can not understand why they are afraid of lizards but some of them do hate it.
I should have written this on the day it happened but I was too busy to write it on the day. It happened about two weeks ago. Actually, it had been happening for a long time and detected the cause two weeks ago. I had been finding hills made up of wood particles on the floor in my room for a long time but I did not care the mechanism how it had been formed. But my roommate was very scare of the moll hills that I asked a cleaning staff about the hill. The answer was like this. It is caused by termite and I should ask engineering staff to deal with the problem. So I filled the form and asked them to kill termites. I wrote like this, “Termites are enjoying our shelves, please kindly kill them”. “Kindly” and “Kill” have contradicting meaning but they kindly killed them and the problem has not happened after the day.
Other than all these interesting creatures, some of us hates cats inside CPILS. I do not hate them and I am not scared of them. But some of us do hate them. I think this is partly because their, the cats', friendliness. They often come close to us especially when we are having something.
I have received two Job offers from Japan. I have not decided yet. I am still on the fence. I have to take many things in to consideration. Salary is important but I do not want to work just for the salary. I have to think about my future to decide my job. Fortunately, both jobs would be able to provide me with sufficient salary to live in Tokyo area.
I have not fixed my departure date yet. But if I will not change my flight again, I am going to go back to Japan on August 21th. I have two more weeks to stay in Philippines and 8 more days to study in CPILS. As I have taken the final exam, what I am going to study does not affect my final result but I would like to keep studying. My purpose here is not to get high grade but to make my English better.- (2007-08-10 01:05:04)

85th day August 5th Sunday
My laptop has been slowed down again these day so I decided to reinstall my laptop completely. Fortunately my laptop has recovery tools in itself so I did not have to buy anything to recover it. Anyway I made backup of files. I used two two-giga-bytes USB memory and one one-giga-bytes SD card to back up all of them. It took more than one hour to backup them. Then I started to reinstall the operating system. It took more than one hour again. Then I started to install softwares like OpenOffice, Skype, MSN messenger, iTune, WinSCP, Mozilla and so on. It took long to reinstall my laptop but it is working well now.
I brought one laptop this time but if I come here again I would like to bring at least two laptops. I came here to study English but I still need a laptop. It is useful and helpful but it sometimes breaks down. It costs and takes time to repair it. It can be better to buy another one than use a whole day to repair it.- (2007-08-10 01:04:18)

84th day August 4th Saturday
Today, I went to Colon street with Haro a Japanese beast and Natsu a Japanese beauty. Colon street is not so far from CPILS but we went there by taxi. To tell you the truth I was not sure if I had been to Colon or not. I sometimes stroll around CPILS without having any destination and I had been there accidentally.
On Colon street, Haro bought 100 sets of clothes. He had an unbelievably noble idea. He was going to give all those clothes to children in Orphanage. Anyway I do not have such a noble idea nor enough money to contribute to him so I bought spicy peanuts and chopped pineapple and ate them by myself.
We went SM to watch horror movie called Ouija. It was very interesting movie. Many of audience were screaming and laughing at the same time. I have heard that they try to promote it in other countries but I am not sure if it is a horror movie or not.
After watching the interesting movie, we went to a Japanese restaurant Nonki in Mandaue. Haro was very kind to treat us including extremely poor me.

83rd day August 3rd Friday
Finally Sari appeared in Class. As I had stated before, she was surprised to see me in the class. That was the first and the last time to have same class with any of my batch. None of my Japanese batch is remaining after today.
I took Progress test. I guess I could do better than the previous one. I am leaving CPILS in 2 weeks so I do not have to change my classes however good or bad the result would be. To tell you the truth, the level limitations for high level classes are quite loose. I have POWER SIM class, a 1:8 class and a 1:1 class. POWER SIM class is for 3H to 6H, my 1:8 class is for 4L to 6H and any 1:1 class is for 1L to 6H.
Not having enough money, I went to an ATM between CPILS and Switch. But it did not work. I put my card in the ATM and pushed the button but nothing happened and 30 seconds later it returned my card. I tried three times but the results were the same. So I gave up using the ATM and went to SM to find better ATMs. But the ATM I found near SM was worse. It captured my credit card. And that's it. Good luck to my credit card.
Anyway, I left SM and I called the credit card company to disable the card. This means I can withdraw no more money and I have to survive with the money I have. Good luck to me!- (2007-08-10 01:02:48)
